Clean Malawi — Waste-to-Business

Clean Malawi is a youth-led environmental enterprise which will be based in Zomba, Malawi. It will be created to tackle poor waste management while creating jobs and income for young people.

The business will collect recyclable waste including plastic bottles, cardboard, paper, and metal from households, businesses, schools, and public areas.

We will set up community collection points where residents and youth collectors can drop off recyclables. The materials will be sorted, weighed, and sold to recycling companies. As we grow, Clean Malawi will invest in equipment to process waste into products such as paving blocks and recycled building materials.

We will also provide affordable waste collection services to homes, shops, restaurants, and institutions. In addition, we will run community clean-up campaigns to promote environmental awareness.

The requested MK3 million will buy collection equipment, protective gear, bins, scales, transport, and establish a pilot sorting center in Zomba.

Our vision is to expand nationwide, creating hundreds of youth jobs and building cleaner, healthier communities across Malawi.
