Forge

Forge is a technology, science, media and skills-development venture being built to give people practical skills regardless of their educational background. Its first focus is on building an academy where willing learners can develop real-world capabilities in areas such as game development, mobile application development, animation, applied physics, electronics, media production and other emerging technologies.

Unlike traditional learning that often focuses on theory and certificates, Forge is designed around learning by doing. Students will practice, build projects, solve problems, demonstrate their abilities and progressively develop the level of skill required to work professionally or create businesses of their own.

In the long term, Forge will grow into an ecosystem consisting of academies, creative studios and research and innovation laboratories. The studios will produce high-quality games, animation, music and other entertainment for local and international markets, creating opportunities for skilled Malawians to earn from their work globally. The laboratories will study challenges affecting Malawi and Africa and develop practical, marketable solutions to improve people's livelihoods.

The goal is to build a sustainable cycle where education creates skilled people, skilled people create products and businesses, and those products generate income that helps fund further education, research, innovation and employment.
