Nambewe foods

Nambewe Foods is a Malawian food-processing and value-addition business that transforms traditional dried vegetables, locally known as mfutso, into high-quality, hygienically processed, attractively packaged, and market-ready food products. The business will source fresh vegetables from local smallholder farmers and communities, process them through proper drying, cleaning, sorting, quality control, and packaging, and distribute the finished products through supermarkets, grocery stores, hotels, restaurants, and other retail outlets.

Currently, most mfutso is sold informally in open markets and streets, often without standardized packaging, branding, or clear quality information. Nambewe Foods aims to address this market gap by bringing traditional Malawian foods into the formal retail market while maintaining their authentic taste, nutritional value, and cultural identity.

Our flagship products will include different varieties of dried traditional vegetables, with opportunities to expand into other quality Malawian traditional foods in the future. The business will create reliable markets for farmers, reduce post-harvest food losses, create employment, and promote value addition within Malawi.
